The geocaching adventure from a few weeks ago began as an attempt to climb up a rock and jump on a trampoline down in the rock. Fearing great loss of life and limb, Jenna and I "promised" to come back with the dads and try again.
The Fourth of July afternoon presented the perfect opportunity. We convinced the dads how great this adventure would be. I think I sensed some raised eyebrows and incredulous looks but they came anyway.
Look at those dads - so professional. Randy LaRose held his position here while Jeremy went a little farther up and helped everyone cross that gap. It may not look like much of a gap to this reading audience but trust me, at 30 ft off the ground with a 7-year-old, it IS a gap.

The view Jenna and I thought twice about when we went alone - just a little too high!

My darling eldest son climbed out of the car and I noticed he had chosen to wear flip-flops on our adventure. Everyone else had put on sneakers and some kind of adventure wear, he chose flip-flops. Hmmmm. They don't work so well when climbing sheer faces of rock so Parker opted for bare feet. Moms love that.

View from the top as Jenna LaRose climbs up. She admitted later that she was freaking out a bit, in that shaky, trembly sort of way.
Safe and sound we all made it up and got ready to party. The proper entry to the trampoline was to jump from the walls of the pit onto the tramp! Bit of a drop but you know the kids eyes bulged and they went for it. Londyn LaRose was a bit skeptical about that jump so her daddy is helping her scoot down the side. I am not sure she ever worked up the courage to make that jump and in all fairness she is about a 1/2 a foot shorter than everyone else. Proportionally, that jump is huge!
And this was the exit from the tramp. McKayd shows the perfect dismount. I wish I had video of this motion because they all looked a bit like Spiderman as they would bounce out and then stick to the side of the rock. I did try it once, I mean how had can it be? Well, let's just say they made it look easy and I made it look hard.

This is from the top of the bowl looking down to the pit and across the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. Have I mentioned I love where I live?
While waiting his turn, Spencer was doing some yoga moves. It was very zen given the location. I almost busted out a sun salutation.
Parker and McKayd making the circle around the bowl on top. There were a few mild heart tremors from the parents during these escapades and lot of "Walk carefully!" and "Slow down!" from the parental figures. Jeremy kept reminding us that the local Search and Rescue would have to come rescue us with ropes and gear!
Not usually one to sit on the sidelines of ANY sort of fun, Randy jumped down with the kids. I am not sure what this game started as but it turned into Maul-the-Dad.

The the bigger boys started Steamroller. Parker is rolling here and gosh, if you could have heard the groans.
Yeah, yeah, Jenna and I cannot stay far from the fun either so we did our turn with all the kids looking on and waiting to see what we could do. We opted for the Bum War. Have you done that lately? Well, if you ever need to drop 5 lbs. fast, I highly recommend this workout. You must be giggling the entire time to make it fully effective.
Then Jenna schooled everyone as she threw down this back flip. Is that a graceful shot or what? I did a flip too, it too was caught on film, and it shall never again see the light of day. Not my best angle. Jenna loved it so it will probably end up on her blog where she puts all of my pictures that should be burned.
As you can imagine and see, great, great adventure. After a successful dismount from the rock to the cars my family headed home to get ready to host our monthly UFC fight night. About twice a year the girls (wives and such) are invited to join this male tradition and the girls were in on this night. We had a big turn out and lots of fun.
Fourth of July 2010, you rocked.
