The Wonder of White

Even after hours and hours of shovelling I still feel in wonder at all this white around me this week. The farmers (and others willing to join in) of this area set aside a special day to fast and pray for the moisture they would need this year for the crops. Within a week's time, I discovered what such a concentrated effort can do! Southeast Utah was buried under 4 to 6 feet of snow in about 48 hours.

I spent about 4 hours working on the little patch of driveway around the car and down a bit. The banks were so high that the hardest work was trying to throw the snow up and over. Just as I started to get a bit weary and discouraged, a kind neighbor came by with his tractor and scooped out the rest of the driveway in about 2 minutes.
Amazing what can happen with the right tools!
Throughout our little community everyone chipped in with whatever they had to help each other dig out. It was lots of hard work (at one point I thought Jer was having a heart attack!), a few sore muscles, and a little icy and slippery but we have now weathered and official "big one" and have not run screaming yet. (Where would we run? - you can't get out of town!)

You know the kids have been begging me to jump off the roof into this awesome bank! I thought about it on Saturday when the snow was soft but by Wednesday when they asked again the snow had settled and hardened into a white, brick-like substance. No jumping in this storm!

After 2 days of storm the sun shone brilliantly all day and we were treated to views like around the house.

White truly is a wonder.
