The day I bought her cleats, shin guards, shorts, and ball she would not get out of it for anything. She also showed her ensemble to all of her friends in the neighborhood who kindly ooohed and aaahed at all the right moments.
First practice lasted exactly 45 minutes. Moms love those kind! At the end the coach reminded them that the first game was coming up on Saturday and that he knew they would do great. As we left the field, Whitney kept saying "I just don't know enough for a game! I need to practice my kicks!" I reassured her that as long as she knew which goal was her team's and kicked the ball into it, she would be fine.
At 7 am on Saturday morning Whitney was up and ready for her game - which started at 10 am. Her clothes were laid out and ready (she did not want to spill breakfast on them) and she spent some time "dribbling" the ball around the kitchen.
Then it started to rain.
Thankfully, not enough to cancel the game. Here are some of the favorite shots.

There are 2 girls and 4 boys on her team. I am just going to say it. The girls ROCK! They are so in the moment and work so hard. Let's just say there is a lot of pickin' daisies for the other part of the team.
I tried and tried to upload a short video clip here but Blogger is just not cooperating. Next time!
Maybe we can find Megs old 'girl power' t-shirts. You know, the ones that say stuff like "'You throw like a girl' doesn't mean what it used to." Way to go, Whit.
